Legend:
Again this temple has no scriptural notes or any separate legend on these deties.
But Namalzhwar sang 10 songs . The local accounts say that In Mahabaradha war Yudhishthira arrayed his pandava army in Vajravyuha. This day's battle was fiercely fought simultaneously in many sectors. Drona-chari was a very powerful warrior. Hence according to Sri Krishna's advise Dharmar proclamed "elephant Asvatthama has been killed". But in saying this he pronounced "elephant' very inaudibly so that Dronachari heard " Asvathama has been killed ". Dhrona thought that his own son also called Aswathama had died. Drona was grief stricken and lost all his stamina and dharma could easily over-come Drona and kill him.
Since Dharma had deceived Dhrona he came to this place and did penance for a long time in expiation of his sin. This temple was in ruins. Darma renovated this temple and and installed the deity. He also endowed lot of wealth to this temple.
