Legend:
This temple also has had no specific scriptural notes but there is a stone inscription which says that this kshetram was called Sarppa Kshetram and the deity was named Parama-padha-nadhan. It also says that this temple had a connection with Pallava king Parameswara varman.
The story goes that King Vidharpa had no children. He came to Kanchi and did prayer to Kailasha Nadhar who granted the boon that he would have two children. The Vidharpa king was very happy. In due time the king had two children and he named them Pallavan and Villavan
Years Passed. The children grew up and became young men. They decided to do Asvamedha Yaga which they did in this temple. Lord Maha-vishnu appeared as Vaikunda Nadha and granted many boons to them. The two brothers requested the Lord to incarnate for ever in that place in the pose in which he appeared before them.
Even today the Lord is giving dharshan to his devotees as Vaikunda-Nadha.
